Characteristics
•Pupils
use collage in the same way as other art processes to explore wider art
themes.
•They
can return to their work using a range of techniques to develop the final
image.
•They
can describe the process they have been through, relate it to the work of
others and make adjustments and changes.
Collage Projects
The
pupils painted patterns on paper, cut and re-arranged them to form a
design.
•They
could cut the shapes they liked but not throw any away. This created a
problem solving situation which encouraged individual solutions. Through
a good selection of colours and shapes this pupil produced a strong
sense of movement in their design.
The pupils examined and discussed how Australian aboriginal artists used shape and pattern to create images of creatures. They created their own designs using a range of papers, paints and pastels. This pupil’s work shows a good understanding of the artists visual style. Colours and patterns have been selected to suit the purpose. The final piece is lively and attractive. The pupils made observational drawings of a group of objects. They used different papers and found objects to create a collage. This pupil has made a good selection of materials. The drawing is strong and the different textures create a well balanced composition. They adapted and improved their work as they went along, discussing their ideas with others.
