Design in our World

The students explored the theme of “Design In Our World” as a starting point for making abstract sculptures in a range of 3D materials. They used sketchbooks to observe and record their experiences of architecture gathering information about contemporary artists and architects from photographs, textbooks and websites. They went on to use Adobe Photoshop to cut and paste photographs of their sculptures into the local environment.

These students showed increasing independence in selecting and presenting studies and examples of artists work to inform their ideas.
They made informed choices and selected appropriate materials for their final pieces. These were completed with a good understanding of form and scale. The use of ICT enabled them to evaluate their work in the context it was designed for. In the light of this they were able to analyse and comment on it’s effectiveness.
