Narrowing the Gap in Essex Schools

Essex, like many other LAs, reflects the current national situation with boys underachieving across nearly all the national curriculum subjects.
Substantive evidence shows that there is a major problem in how to improve boys' performance and address the significant 'gender gap'. Over 50% of schools who responded to a country-wide questionnaire, recognised this challenge. What emerged was the necessity to provide a clear strategic view and practical solutions to support schools.
